The Glitz Theory Size Guide: How Our Fits Actually Run

The Glitz Theory Size Guide: How Our Fits Actually Run

Sizing in festival fashion is genuinely complicated. You're buying pieces that need to perform โ€” stay put during 8 hours of dancing, survive crowd contact, and look intentional from the first set to the last. Getting the size wrong means either spending your festival adjusting your outfit or missing the fit entirely.

These are studio-verified sizing notes from Rita, tested at 757 events across Virginia Beach and beyond. This is what we actually know about how our pieces run.

Body-Sculpting Pieces (Bodysuits, Crops, Compression Fits)

Our body-sculpting pieces โ€” compression crops, fitted bodysuits, and high-waisted sculpt bottoms โ€” are designed to fit close to the body with generous stretch recovery. The cotton-spandex blend provides 4-way stretch that moves with you without losing shape.

How they run: True to size for most body types. If you're between sizes, size down for a body-sculpting fit or size up for a more relaxed look. The waistband on our sculpt pieces is designed to sit at the natural waist โ€” if you prefer a lower rise, size up.

The rail test: Every sculpt piece we carry has been tested for zero-slip waistband performance. If the waistband moves during dancing, it doesn't make the cut. You should be able to dance, jump, and move without adjusting.

Unisex and Relaxed Fits (Button-Ups, Patchwork Shirts, Kurtha Styles)

Our unisex pieces โ€” the Shakedown Circuit Bolt Button-Up, the Shakedown Shroom Patchwork Button-Up, and similar styles โ€” are designed with a relaxed, breathable drape that works across body types.

How they run: These run true to size with a relaxed fit. If you prefer an oversized look, size up one. If you want a more fitted silhouette, size down. The hip-length cut is designed to work over shorts, flares, or tucked into high-waisted bottoms.

Flares and Wide-Leg Bottoms

Our flare styles โ€” including the Cyber Bloom Groovy Shroom Flares and similar pieces โ€” are designed with a high-waisted sculpt fit and a dramatic floor-grazing flare leg.

How they run: Size down for body-sculpting through the hip and thigh. Size up for a more relaxed drape. The waistband is wide elastic with gathered ruching โ€” it's forgiving across a range of sizes but the sculpt effect is strongest at true size or one size down.

Length note: Our flares are designed to graze the floor at average height (5'4"โ€“5'7"). If you're taller, they'll hit mid-ankle. If you're shorter, they'll pool slightly โ€” which actually looks incredible with platforms.

Hats and Accessories

Our hat styles โ€” including the Stealie Bolt Hemp Patchwork Bucket Hat โ€” are one size fits most with an unstructured soft crown that adjusts to head size. The wire-reinforced brim is fully shapable and holds its form after shaping.

The Honest Sizing Advice

If you're between sizes, consider what you're using the piece for. Going to the rail at a heavy bass event? Size down for maximum security. Wearing it for a full festival day with a hydration pack? True size or size up for comfort over long hours. Styling for photos? Size down for the sculpt effect.
